How magazines attract an audience

This research has taught me that to make a successful music magazine cover I need to create connections and give the reader an incentive to buy mine over another such as exclusive interviews.

I learned a lot about iMovie and how to create short movies with key information easily visible, I learned more about the magazines I did the research about such which has helped me develop several ideas about what is good and bad within the magazine field, it also gave me an idea of what kind of publishers I will be looking for to publish my own magazine.

Institutional research

I learned about the general prices of the popular magazines and what the popular magazines actually are, this gave me information I can use to better price my magazine and market it. I gained a good number of sources for information which I can use again at any time if I am ever struggling and need information.

Front Cover Analysis

From this I have learned that there are many different things people want from drum and bass music magazines including information about their favourite artists and how to make the music they listen to and mix it.

Evaluation of front page construction

I began by researching other school magazine front covers using google, it helped me get an idea of what I needed to do to make my magazine front cover stand out and attract the audience I was looking for. I then went and took several mid-shot photos for the main photo on the front. I used Pages to put all my work together, I took The Castle School logo from the website and used it to make my cover look official and to show that this is the magazine you want to read if you want to know about castle school. I overlapped the images to create what I believed to look like a school magazine cover of which I could be proud of. I titled it The Castle School magazine and added a small side note to give some information on what the reader would get simply for receiving the magazine. This is how I completed my magazine cover.

School magazine research

From doing this research I have found what are good ideas for my magazine and what are less than good. It seems that bold titles are popular for attracting the eye and I will use this in my magazine. Looking as high quality as possible is important to my magazine now as well as I preferred them over the lower looking quality ones every time.
